2009年、これからの新しいキャリアのかたち

先日、偶然同じ日に目にした小さな記事２つが、「2009年、これからの新しい働き方」に関して示唆に富むなぁ、と思ったので簡単にご紹介。

１つめはおなじみ「Fastcompany」のコラム「What's Next For Social Capitalism」から〜

A friend of mine from college has always been committed to fighting international poverty. First she worked for some of the big aid organizations like Mercy Corps and CARE. Then she took a job with a more entrepreneurial, microfinance-related group. Lately she's very excited about the prospect of working for Obama's new state department.

「大学の同級生は今までいつも国際的な貧困に立ち向かうことに取り組んできた。最初にMercy CorpとCAREという大きな援助団体で働き、その後マイクロファイナンス関係のより起業家的な組織で働き、そして最近はオバマ政権下での国務省で働く予定であり、とても興奮している」とのこと

日本で考えた場合、巨大ＮＧＯ団体→マイクロファイナンスのスタートアップ→外務省というようなキャリアパターンはほぼないに等しいとは思うものの、アメリカでの、時代とともに形を変えつつ、問題解決の手法、その時々の効果的なキャリアが変容してきている様を考えさせてくれる話でした。

同時に紹介されている、国際政治経済週刊誌「エコノミスト」の経済ライターが昨年末に書いた「フィランソロキャピタリズム」という本も、近年の社会起業家と台頭に関して体系的にまとめられた良書のようですね。書評はまた改めて・・・

もう１つ、最近気に入っているwww.change.orgで取り上げられていた記事「Entrepreneural Careerism in 2009」より

I think that in general, people find jobs where they have a sense of mission, work in
small teams, and feel like they have a personal stake that transcends a paycheck
just tend to be more fulfilling. Many social enterprises can offer that sort of work
setting in a way that larger firms just can't match, and you could see the sector
be a hugely in-demand space for job seekers.

ビジネスウィーク誌の予測する2009年の大予測の中で、今後より社会起業家的なキャリアが必要とされるようになり、それは仕事の中によりミッションを感じ、小さなチームの単位で働き、単に給料を得る手段だけ以上の達成感を仕事に求め、自分自身の影響力を行使できるようなものとなるであろうことが触れられています。

日本でも広く認識が拡がりつつある「社会起業家」的な組織、活躍する個人。ただキャリアのあり方に関しての変化はもう少し時間がかかりそうですね。
